The set of documented and owned materials by the museum is progressively made available to the users (and in particular to the scholars) gradually to the work of sorting and inventorying. The consultability is governed by the regulations concerning the archival heritage, administrative measures and privacy.
At the moment the archives are organized in this way:
Archives of the Historical Museum of the Liberation (1945-2000)
It includes documentation about the life of the museum, the activity of its bodies and persons in charge of it, relations with the institutions, offices, associations, realized cultural activities, the development of the collections and exhibitions. Papers relating to business content and to open questions are excluded from the consultation.

Why a Database?
From an initiative taken by the Museum of the Liberation, which is located in the spaces of the former Nazi prison, after 60 years from the occupation, it was decided to carry out an investigation in order to collect, analyze, reconstruct the biographies of those who, even for a few hours, passed through in the Nazi prison in via Tasso in the period October 1943- June 4, 1944.
The result of this research, never realized before now, conducted by researchers A. Glielmi Alessia and Giovanna Montani, under the scientific direction of Prof. Antonio Parisella, it is a database to which access is available at the multimedia section of the Museum. This tool, extremely flexible, in addition to visualize, in alphabetical order, the more than 1,130 surveyed biographies, allows various "queries."
For example it is possible the virtual reconstruction of the composition of the individual prison cells, searching of women prisoners, the names extrapolated from a single source, the common places of death, etc.
It composed of 37 fields divided into types of heterogeneous data.

- Data relating to the detention period in Via Tasso;
- Data relating to historical annotation (notes)
- Data about sources.
Which are the used sources?
Contemporary bibliography Systematic and chronological examination of texts, memoirs, monographs, historical essays since 1944. For the text initially analyzed we referred to Antonio Parisella’s guide  in order to expand the chronological range up till the present days.

Archive "Art and Resistance in Rome and Lazio. Between history and memory"
It began as a collection of iconographic data and documentaries on the themes of resistance from 1943 to today, and their different modes of representation in the visual arts, from painting, sculpture, graphics.
The database, together with the most famous works by artists who were directly involved in the events of the Resistance or interpreters of a civil and political commitment that arises from it, collects various and heterogeneous productions - paintings, illustrations, book covers, posters, monumental sculptures , reliefs, medals, stamps, graphic cards for political or propaganda materials – sometimes only of documentary or artwork nature that make up a rich and varied visual heritage of the Resistance events and the various modes of representation, remembrance and celebration, through more than sixty years of national history.
Via Tasso’s Archive
It includes documentation of various origins and nature, now in possession of the museum especially from original donation, for reproductions authorized by the protagonists or by their heirs, by acquisition during the research activities. A list in alphabetical order for people, places and events of files placed in different locations will allow the visitors to search a wide range of subjects. It is continuously updated thanks the copies of documents that are left by the family member of the protagonists, researchers, visitors. Those documents integrates the documentation of the Museum.
Historical Archive for Didactis
It consists of four series/collections. 1995 Competition of the Ministry of Education about “________”. It includes the documentation (written, graphic and pictorial, audiovisual) of 510 educational experiences realized in schools of all levels from all over Italy. Museum’s competition (19___-20___). It includes the documentation (written, graphic) relative to the competitions of the Museum in partnership with ASAL and IRSIFAR (Roman Institute for the History of Italy from Fascism to the Resistance) about review courses of the Museum (_____). It includes the documentation (written and audiovisual) produced on the occasion of review courses for teachers realized by prof. Giorgio Giannini at that time directed at the Museum by the Minister of Education.
Various teaching experiences. They are listed in alphabetical order of the promoter (school, university, institution, etc.), with the year of reference and title, produced materials for individual learning experiences, by prescribing the actual locations in relation to the nature of the material (paper documents, books, gray dossiers, audiovisuals, posters, objects, etc...). It is an open series that the Museum asks to enrich to schools, associations, institutions and professional bodies that deal with schools, teaching, teachers update.
Conditions for consultation
Access to archives is allowed to adult persons according to the rules in force for the State archives.
In the request for access to the Museum archives it is necessary to indicate the title and search queries for which your are asking to access if it is done for personal use or for a client. The access request must be accompanied by a copy of a valid ID (identity card, passport). For searches made on commission you will require a letter of assignment and co-responsibility of the client (if single person), of the legal representative of the scientific or cultural institution or of a company. Citizens of other countries must present a letter of accreditation too, in Italian language, of a scientific or cultural institution, organization or company or diplomatic or consular authority. It is possible to photocopy (contribution € 0.10 per page) or authorize digital photo-reproductions in accordance with the rules in force in the italian state archives and exhibited: in the case of digital photo-reproductions it will be necessary to deliver a copy of the reproduction. Authorization is only for purposes of study and not for publishing.
The full publication of documents or reproduced in facsimile must be explicitly authorized in writing upon payment according to this procedure of specific rights and authorization must be given indication in the publication. Access to archival documents is allowed but not exclusive and only for the purpose of the search and the indicated uses. Access is personal and not transferable.
